The Medical Training Initiative is a beneficial scheme that offers junior doctors from all over the world with the opportunity to work and get trained in the UK while they in turn serve the trust by giving a high quality, and long term alternative to using locums in filling rota gaps.

The MTI scheme allow IMCs to get trained in the UK for a maximum of two years with the NHS. All International Medical Graduates greatly benefit from the exposure, knowledge, and the skills that they learn during the period of training with the NHS and can use them in improving the level of patient care in future after they return to their home country. Also, in MTI the IMGs are given the opportunity to get placed in the UK hospitals and also the benefit of an increased workforce capacity and the skills and knowledge that IMGs can share with their colleagues.

Note: The MTI scheme is especially for doctors from the low and middle income countries. Applicants from other countries may not be granted sponsorship for a tier 5 visa as per the scheme prioritisation and allocation.
